OPROER

The current formation of Oproer assembled in 2019, consisting of five young lads who, by a stroke of fate, found themselves in a chalet in the Ardennes to work on their own music. The lead-up to this moment is a tale worth telling, but we’ll save it for our next chat at the bar. From this point on, the band, often to the chagrin of loved ones and those close to them, resides in the studio of keyboardist Jérôme Pringiers (Studio Chauffage). Here, they tirelessly fine-tune existing songs and craft new material. The band is known for delivering an energetic and tight live show, which has earned them a loyal fanbase over the years. One of these fans described their music with four adjectives: dark, danceable, ecstatic, and recognizable. The energy and atmosphere they evoke live are more than palpable in their existing and future studio recordings. In short, Oproer leaves no one indifferent.

Their first achievement in the studio was the Closed Session EP, a live session recorded and filmed in one take. From this point on, momentum slowly built: they joined Rhea twice for their shows at the Ancienne Belgique (Club and Box), before headlining in the Balzaal of the Vooruit in Ghent. Ultimately, the band sold out this venue for two consecutive nights, a feat that garnered considerable attention and increased interest from organizers and venues.

Not long after, the band announced their debut album, which they will present at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels. Once again, ticket sales exceeded all expectations, prompting an expansion of the venue’s capacity from the Box to the Ballroom to meet demand. In the lead-up to this debut album, the band had an impressive festival summer, both in Belgium and the Netherlands.
